WEAR YOUR CONVICTIONS ON YOUR SLEEVE STORIES |
|
Lindsay Franzoni Dear whom ever this may concern: Well today I decided to participate in the Protest Against War in Iraq. When I first received the e-mail I knew I wanted to do this. So to spread the word I told other people who were against the war if they wanted to participate in wearing a white armband. Most of them agreed and said they would wear it. So today I wore the armband and found no one else wearing it. I asked the people why hadn't they worn it And they said they either forgot or they just didn't care. So this simply told me that most of the people don't seem to see what this war really is so I asked them after do you think President Bush is doing the right thing. Most of them replied by saying I don't care. It seems that they don't care because it is not affecting them right now but it will probably all affect us in the future. I chose to participate today because I believe that this war is unnecessary and we should have found more peaceful solutions. I was not stopped at all during the school day, which I found a surprise because now students are not allowed to wear bandanas or headbands because they might signify gang colors. But, maybe they didn't stop me because they didn't know I was fighting for this certain cause. Whatever the reason I wore the armband with pride because I believed in this protest. Hopefully people will become more aware of how the world is destroying itself and maybe speak up their voices like I did today. By doing this I hope I helped others to realize that they can express their opinions too without being told that they should take it elsewhere. We have the right to express our opinion and therefore we should use that right. Thank you for your time. |
