Josh Corpus Christi Part I: Ok today we just showed up at school with the armbands on, but we had documents on us, we decided not to meet the principal before school cause that would've been suicide. So we just went about like it was a normal day. At lunch we were sitting at our table doin nothing but eating and just hangin out. Principal comes up to us and tells us to come with him. So Jorge, Wes, Nick and I went to the office with the principal and he told me and Jorge that we have ISS (in school suspension) cause we were told not to wear them, and then Wes and Nick were asked to take off their armbands. They said, "I'll take ISS". During this time Jorge took out all his research with all the main points highlighted, and the principal said I don't have to read it, and threw it back at us. So from then on the 4 of us were sitting in ISS. The teacher was a X-drill instructor and fought in some war, so that made the situation no better. Sittin in ISS we weren't allowed to talk at all. So Jorge started passing newspapers and articles and shit to all the iss kids. Some dude blurted out "man why are these guys in here, they are tryin to spread peace man, show em some love". After cleanin the cafeteria 3 times, we started getting more support from the ISS kids, and that's cool. We were told, "students do not have rights" and "if you don't like it, sue". After a couple hours in ISS I got very smart, remembered that my last 2 Periods of the day were with MR. Johnson (greatest teacher alive.) I told the ISS teacher I had a test in Johnson's class, and I cant make it up cause its on solaris and lynix and shit (today was just a study day, there were no tests), and he had to let me go cause, last time I checked the iss room doesn't have sun solaris as the master drive. So I got 90 minutes less of ISS than I was supposed to. Once I had spread the word of our containment in ISS, a lot of people seemed to be pissed (even though they took there bands off when asked by officers or teachers). I got to Johnson's class told him what happened and told him that Nick was still there. So Johnson got Nick out of ISS also. Jorge and Wes had to stick it out sadly, cause the ISS teacher checked and knew that Wes and jorge don't have his class… Some young womyn asked me and him "did you guys ever get told to take those off?" I told her what happened and she told us how fuckin stupid Carroll HS is for doin this. And that its cool how we started this up at the school and how cool it is that we stood up against the principal. Jorge and Wes found me and nick after school and told us how another dude got sent in, his name was Jay. After that Jorge went looking for a phone to either call KRIS (our local news station) or ACLU. And I thanked Jay for participating and went on my way home. We have decided to wear our armbands till the end of this war, so its Gonna be interesting when Monday rolls around. I'm sorry for this email, cause it is very long. I have to go and do some research on Jamestown for English class. Thank you for reading. |
