Day 20 - Unexpected Day Off

Day 20 – London - Middlesbrough – CANCELED! Day Off In London

Today we were supposed to be in Middlesbrough but because of a fire in the building next to the club the show was canceled. Obviously that was a drag but there was a silver lining in that it gave us a day off in London! YES!

Because of scheduling we never have a day off or overnight stay in London and I’ve never had more than a free hour or two when in London, so I was amped for our big day off in the city! It was especially good news since Katie B was with me. Now both of us could check out London for the first time together! We decided to do so via a London Bus Tour!

We sat on the top level of a double-decker bus, which zipped all over the city while our awesome tour guide chimed in with facts and bad jokes. With a history that includes ancient Roman occupation, London is packed full of more amazing history than I could begin to hit you with. Our two-hour tour covered only a small section of the city. I think my favorite moment on the tour came when our tour guide said, “That spot is where the last public execution in London was held. An eight-year old boy was hung for stealing a loaf of bread.” Man, and I thought US drug laws were archaic!

We ended our night at a lovely Indian restaurant and then an internet café. Not the most romantic use of our time, but neither of us had been online forever and we had a lot of mail to catch up on! Besides, we were so stuffed after eating Indian food that we weren’t good for anything outside of sitting on our asses!
