Days 7 & 8

Day 7

I LOVE ITALY! The people, the food, the language, the sights, and usually the weather but not today cause it’s a little chilly. We had a ton of interviews
today including one with a very cool punk tv show that airs on public tv- which brings me to another thing I love about Italy- Italy’s art community totally goes for it! So many kids have zines or host radio and tv shows etc... Italy has a thriving artist and activist community and we got to sample a great piece of it today. I got to use a little of my limited Italian which was fun even when I was just saying phrases like, “I understand Italian a little.” or “Do you understand English?” To my amazement the girl I directed that question to did speak English!
(Unfortunately she gave me TERRIBLE directions to the grocery store!)

I was sad upon waking up at 4pm to find that I had
missed Strike Anyway’s set, but I did get to see The
Movement who rocked! Lag Wagon joined the tour today and we shot the shit with a few of those cool fellows. I also met some guys from Yellow Card who also joined the tour today. Over all, a good day.

Our set was a bit of a downer cause we weren’t too on it today. The kids seemed to like it but everyone who has seen us each day agreed that we weren’t at our best. Hopefully we’ll rock harder the next time we’re in Milan.

One more great thing about Italy, they despise Bush
and his sidekick, Italian Prime Minister Silvio
Berlusconi about as much as I do!

Day 8 - off day
June 2, 2004

Sleep! Eat! Rest! Sleep! Sweet... Well, sort of...
That was one plan I had but never got to. I was
asked to write the liner notes for Rock Against Bush
Volume II, so I spent most of my day doing that while everyone else went into the beautiful quaint French town we parked outside of. Man, I sure got the short end of that stick! Not only did I miss the awesome town but it was a pretty lonely day which left me feeling sad and of course, lonely. The walk I took in the rain didn’t help too much and while walking along the river I contemplated jumping in. I would’ve too, if I didn’t know I’d be stuck with a pile of wet clothes afterwards and no way to dry them. That un-fun fact in the back of my head helped me fight off the river jumping urge. But overall, what I’m getting at is that I sort of went a little off my rocker today, just not so off my rocker that I needed to be stuck in a padded room. (I hope you like the Rock Against Bush Vol II liner notes cause they cost me part of my sanity.)
